Group by in Reports Category AND Subcategory

I'm trying to find a way to Group by category AND subcategory in a report (for Incident for example).   It only allows me to select one field for grouping.   I don't want a group of just category, I would like my data grouped in a list by both Category and Subcategory combination.

I see I can do a pivot table.   Is there any other way?

What about a stacked bar chart?

Unfortunately that won't work in my case.   The reason why I need to group by cat and subcat is to get a number (count) for each cat/subcat group so I can then report on (somehow, not there yet) what the top 10 cat and subcats of incidents there are.

And I'm just using cat and subcat as an example.   I actually have THREE fields that need grouped by (custom fields), but if I can get an answer on cat/subcat I can probably do it with three fields as well.

I was under the impression that the "+" to the right of the group by field would allow you to do sub-groupings, but my test on category/subcategory on an incident list didn't show any difference after adding subcategory. Now I have no idea what that is for.

Yeah, I thought that + to the right of the group by field was to allow sub groupings too.   Add a field to it and then run your report again, you'll see that a select box appears at the bottom of the report that allows the user to then select which field to group by.   Pretty cool feature, but not what I need.
