How can I chat with a user from another ServiceNow instance using Sidebar Discussions?

Hi team,

I’m exploring the Sidebar feature in ServiceNow Workspaces for real-time collaboration.
Currently, I can start discussions with users who are part of my own instance.

However, I’d like to know if it’s possible to chat or collaborate with a user from a different ServiceNow instance (for example, a vendor or partner organization) through Sidebar Discussions.

If yes, what setup or configuration is required to enable this cross-instance communication?
Any guidance or best practices would be really helpful.

Hi @RohitPapann,

 

no, that is not possible.. the sidebar discussion is expected to be used within one instance only, not possible to use it to communicate externally.

 

If you want to communicate with vendors or externals, then they might need to have snc_external accounts in that environment and/or communicate via emails.

 

The use case of communicating across different instances is not supported

This is the case when integrating out-of-the-box SN, as it doesn’t provide any way to use the sidebar to connect or chat with external systems or instances.
