How to group "Assignment Groups" for Reporting

We have assignment groups set up in a hierarchy (currently up to 3 levels deep). I want to report on groups of Assignment Groups that don't align to this hierarchy. For example:

Parent Group A

- Child Group A.1

- Child Group A.2

Parent Group B

- Child Group B.1

- Child Group B.2

Group C

Group D

How can I create a group that called "MyGroup1" that includes, for example, groups A.1, B.1, C? If I do this, is there a way to make a catch-all group for everything else?

Groups can only have a single parent. There is no way to great a group that is composed of the members of an arbitrary list of groups.

However, it is possible (as suggested in your other post) to use the Group Type field for reporting to flag a set of groups that meet a criteria.

For hierarchies, check out the lab Performance Analytics 301 in the Knowledge On-Demand library (from K18 or K19).

Alternately, you could a reference to the "Reporting Group" or something like that if you are grouping several groups together that aren't always hierarchical.

Thanks for the tips both. I was wondering if buckets would work, but hadn't pursued that just yet. Sounds like I need to figure out why the Group Type field isn't working in reports and check out the lab for other ideas.

I used Bucket group in Performance Analytics to do just that.
