Open incidents per month bar chart/trend

Hi

I'm trying to get a report in SN where I would like to visualize number of open/active incidents (with some filter set) per month.
I would like a bar chart where I get Mars, April, May, June in different bars.
It means that one incident can occur in several months if it have been open for several months.

I have done a report where I got this, except for one important difference that I "trend by" updated. So I only get a incident in one months.

I would like to se, 45 open at mars end, 40 in april, 30 in may  and so on (this means we are a decreasing backlog)

Anyone that have done this?
Thanks

Yes, if the bar count per month is open incidents, and a incident can be present in example mar, april and may bar.

Hi Jonas,

This is NOT possible using standard Reporting.  What you are describing, is the need for Performance Analytics.  This is designed to take a periodic (Daily, Weekly, Monthly etc) snapshot of data, which can then be trended in the way you're describing.  It is particularly useful for capturing counts of inherently volatile data (ie: where you're using State, as that will obviously change)

In your scenario, you're looking for PA to count how many Incidents were in an Open State at the end of each month right?  If an Incident is particularly troublesome and straddles many months, PA will again count that same Incident in subsequent months.  As you say, this is all useful for the purposes of measuring whether your backlog is growing or decreasing.

Hope that helps?

Thanks,
