Performance Analytics - slow performance and browser crashing when viewing

Vasanth Pandia1

Performance Analytics :

Slow performance when viewing dashboards in all browsers (Edge, IE 11, and Chrome)

Browser crashing (ServiceNow not responding) when using IE and Edge. This occurs when switching between tabs or using Filters

Chrome does not show signs of crashing, but it takes 30 seconds to switch tabs and another 30 to 45 to load the data.

Can someone let me know what may be causing this issue? or do we need to reach out to servicenow?

Regards,

Vasanth

Hi Vasanth,

It mostly depends on the data being reflected. If you have multiple filters applied for fetching records or bulk data then it would take time to load.

You can find link How to improve the performance of home page   helpful.

Does IE takes a lot of memory? There is a known memory leak with IE11 in Windows 7 (not sure if it's your case here):

ServiceNow KB: Internet Explorer 11 process leaks memory in Windows 7 (not the JS Heap) (KB0563748)

Also, when you try switching tabs, did current tab fully loaded your current transaction or not?

This happened to me when I was displaying breakdowns that had a lot of options. For example I had a breakdown for "Assigned To" which had around 100 options. I was told breakdowns should be used for smaller categories like region (3 options), priority (5 options), etc instead of around 100. Once I removed the breakdown widget from the dashboard it loaded much quicker. I also noticed that chrome renders much faster than firefox.

I have heard many times now that Chrome is best for Service Now,

In my case we have a lot of domains, FF is just unable to load them in the domain picker, increasing memory usage / crashing.

Generally the more customization you have the harder it gets with performance.
