Platform Analytics Dashboard Sharing vs Visualization Sharing

Hi All,

I have a question regarding sharing behavior in ServiceNow Platform Analytics.

If a dashboard is shared with a specific role, and a user has that role assigned to their profile, will the user automatically be able to view all the visualizations/widgets on that dashboard?

Or do the individual visualizations also need to be explicitly shared with the same role/user for them to be visible?

For example:

  • Dashboard is shared with Role A.
  • User X has Role A assigned.
  • The dashboard contains multiple visualizations.

Will User X automatically see all visualizations on the dashboard, assuming they have access to the underlying data, or is separate visualization sharing required?

I would appreciate any clarification on how dashboard-level sharing and visualization-level sharing interact in Platform Analytics.

Thanks in advance!

my thoughts

-> Yes — for a Platform Analytics dashboard, sharing the dashboard with Role A is normally sufficient for User X to see the data visualisations embedded on that dashboard, provided User X has Role A and can access the underlying data.

-> You do not need to separately share each visualisation merely to render it on that dashboard
