Platform Analytics - Migration Tool - Issues

Is anyone else having issues using the Platform Analytics Migration tool after upgrading to Washington?

Some of the issue that I have found;

- Existing breakdown source field is not being followed. The way these breakdown sources are being migrated the new filters are not showing the same elements as the pre-migration breakdowns. Some of fields are no longer able to be chosen in the filter configuration so these breakdowns are being ignored all together.

- Column visualisations that have been migrated from an existing PA Widget. The indicator list order is not being kept and the order needs to be reset. Straight migrations are not picking this up very well and all orders need to be adjusted after migration.

- Single score format values are not being migrating with the same specs as those that are contained within the indicator. These need adjustment.

Some other general issues that I have found and more a nuisance more than anything else;

- It seems you cannot migrate an existing report directly to the new Platform Analytics Data Visualisation list. These reports do not seem to be saved directly to the Data Visualisation list and need to be recreated to be consumed within Platform Analytics. This mainly affects reports not listed in a dashboard.

- In general, the change of names from 'Report' to 'Data Visualisation' is confusing for the users. It's long been called a 'Report'. To search for something else is confusing.

- Cascading Filters were previously neatly packaged and now these are separated. I know they can be linked however these were previously neatly packaged and easily consumed and navigated.

- Personally losing the Existing Breakdown source drop list from the top of a PA Dashboard is a backward step. Consumers of the dashboard lose the ability to select a Category (breakdown source) from a list and then select the element. Now all the categories are spread across the page separately and look overwhelming.

I've attached a direct comparison of an existing PA Dashboard vs a Migrated Platform Analytics Dashboard

Everything will be migrated to PAE when upgrading to Zurich: dashboards, filters AND reports. Migrating before Zurich can be done with the migration tool. The migration tool can be used on a dashboard to see what it does with the dashboard and if you select 'migrate all', you will migrate all dashboards AND the reports that aren't on dashboards. As of that moment, they are in the data visualization menu. The old report view will also show that with a message. So it is still available, but you can't add the old reports to new dashboards.

After migration you will still have the right mouse click option to create a bar or pie chart from a list, but it will open in the visualization designer and not the old report builder (the navigation menu will also be cleaned of the old stuff).

HI Mark,

Thank your for your answers. One last questions:
I have heard that the Anlytic Hub will also be deprecated. Will this happen also with Zurich Release? And what is the concept behind? Will all the functionality be available in PAe ? Or do we loose some of it?

Hi @Ulrike Burkert1,

Analytics Hub is replaced by the KPI details page in the new Platform Analytics experience.
The KPI details page is available from Tokyo and in constant improvement.

@Pete35 thank you for all the feedback.
I am not sure if you have already contacted Support for the issues you mentioned above but it would be useful for us to take a look directly to your dashboards.

The team has done improvements on the migration of the breakdown sources and you should still be able to leverage the above the tabs filters for all your data visualization on indicators and table data.
We have been working in Yokohama on a cleaner and more compact experience for the filters, we call it grouped filters, and we are looking to migrate the cascading filter into that new look and feel to bring back a similar experience as before.
In the May Store we have done improvements on the order and label migration for Indicator scorecard, would be great to understand if that solves the issue you have experienced.

Thanks

I'd been waiting for the dust to settle a little before trying again.

This time I'm using the Xanadu Instance with Platform Analytics 5.1.1 and Migration Center 1.5.2.
Issues with Tabs now migrating with a sys_id prefix. Now breakdowns are migrating with sys_ids now as well.
