Hi there. wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on simple lists. Here are three things that are a problem for us with #1 being a showstopper for us to migrate before being forced as this will interrupt a lot of users.
Description: The reporting team has identified an issue with simple lists in Platform Analytics that is a showstopper for the Platform Analytics Migration project.
- You cannot export a simple list from the dashboard. In the current reporting module you can right click on a column > export > excel but in Platform Analytics this is not possible. This is the major show stopper for us as many users use this functionality to pull out data and do more analysis on it.
- View all on the list view will take you out of the dashboard and into a list view but does not keep the original fields from the simple list on the dashboard. This would not be a solution for exporting because the fields would not be correctly showing. There is also no way to page through the data so you have to set the max rows to show at a very high number if you are bringing back active aging tickets. if you show only 100 or 200, and there are more than that, the only way to see the data is to view all, but you lose the columns from the report.
- When creating your simple list, you can only add one field at a time. In the personalization gear you can use a checkbox to pick fields but when creating it for everyone, you cannot. One at a time is very inefficient and time consuming as many of our users have 15-20 columns in their lists. The default fields that appear when creating are a good start but as soon as you add a field, all of those default values disappear.
Anyone know if any of these are in the works to at least put simple lists to the same behavior as in native reporting? I am disappointed that simple lists look like they were an after thought and bare bones functionality has been put in making it fairly useless.

Hi @Pam Reid1 ,
Thank you for all the feedback.
We are working in Zurich (safe harbour) to improve the List component that is displayed as part of the Data visualizations and Dashboard.
We expect to improve all the points you mentioned above about (View all/Pagination, Export from the List on dashboard level, Selecting the columns in the configuration itself).
We are working to support also alternative group bys and personalizing the columns and the filtering conditions.
Hope this is giving you good information on the capabilities we are working on.
Thank you

Hi @martapenzo
Thanks the Sway Link is helping.
YES !!! The Ctrl + Left Click works to open the Record in the New Tab, improving the productivity on viewing the data. 🎉
On the data list, the Open Link in new Tab is also working as expected.
On the visualization, as the right click is not offered, and somehow I did not try the Ctrl + Left Click, I made wrong assumption.

A huge issue we have found now is that we cannot add variables to our lists. All the other fixes to the lists are definitely amazing. However, it just spins and spins and never allows us to get the variables. A work around that was provided was to update the JSON in the par_visualization table to add in all variables that we want in there. However, as nice as that seems, when you try and export the data, we end up with a completely blank report. Updating the JSON does not let i know those fields are actually columns in the visualization. We have put in a support ticket but once again, this is something many of our users use and do in native reporting and this is a major setback.
Anyone else had this issue or come up with a better work around?

Hi @Pam Reid1 ,
I had a conversation with the List team earlier this week and variables will be supported from Australia release.
At this point I am unsure if there is any workaround, I would suggest to raise a case if needed.
Thank you
