Are you confusing 'Status' with 'State' (or vice verse, not positive how to phrase that ) for your list view?

Often this happens when the choice table does not have a record for the table, field, and field value you are encountering. The blue value often means the value exists on a parent table (from which you have extended the current table), but not on the current table itself. For example, if a state value is defined for the task table, but not for the change request table (which is an extension of task), then that state will be shown as blue on the change request table. Also if an admin makes a choice table value inactive (or worse, deletes it) on one table, they might unknowingly be doing it for other tables as well.
To check, right click the field name and "view choice list" to make sure the value you want is defined and active for the table you are looking at.

The blue (13) means that the number value assigned to the state does not have a corresponding option in the list. The blank could be because you allow users to choose "None", or maybe you have a state without a Label?
We need a bit more info, though. How are the incidents being created? Is this from an email or from the catalog?
