My Organization wants to just USE RITM and NOT SCTASK

Hi All,

I need some suggestions if it is a good practice not use SCTASK and if yes what are the possible issues that can be faced in future ?

Reason not to use SCTASK is because end users do not have visibility of their SCTASK on the ESC portal.

Hi @ranjitmanji SC Task are used to drive fulfillment purpose. If you think end users do not have visibility on portal, you could look for form widget which might help you in this case where users can view sc task from portal view.

If you do not have any fulfillment tasks to carry out, that is fine to ignore.

I think using sctask is pretty important. Think of someone ordering a new laptop, some new software, a mobile phone etc. all on one RITM. Then each sctask can be assigned to different groups for fulfillment. One team doesn't always fulfill every item that someone can request. You could make comments visible on an sctask or have those comments copied over to the RITM which a user could see. There are a few different options that you have while still using sctasks.

But if there's no actual fulfillment taking place, like with an automated process, then an SCTASK isn't actually required since no human will be tasked to perform an action.

As mentionned in others comments, if you don't use SCTASK you won't be able to manage fulfillments requiring multiple activities and you will probably have those at some point.

So you should already use SCTASK even if there is only one activity to do by one team. That way when you get to more complex fulfillments you won't have some Requests with only Requested Items inside and some others with Requested Items and SCTASK, and that could lead to confusion.

As per the Employee Portal, end users should only see the Requests and Requested Items. They can track the progress of the Requested Items with the stages that you can apply to a process. They don't need to have a visibility on the SCTASK as this is the work need to fulfill the Requested Items.

If you avec an automated process you should still have a SCTASK assigned to at least a group and theb close it automatically.
