📢 Upcoming Update: Enhanced Tax Experience in APO (Zurich Release)

We’re excited to introduce several improvements to the tax experience in Accounts Payable Operations (APO) as part of the Zurich release. These enhancements are designed to provide greater accuracy, simplify manual work, and offer seamless integration with external tax engines.

🚀 What’s New?

1. Automated Tax Calculation with External Tax Engines

You can now integrate APO with your preferred external tax solution to automatically generate tax lines during invoice processing.

This reduces manual effort and improves tax accuracy.

If you choose not to use external tax integration, you can continue to enter tax lines manually—with an improved and more user‑friendly experience.

2. Streamlined Manual Tax Entry

For customers entering tax information manually:

  • System tax and supplier tax can now be reviewed and added on a single page.
  • This replaces the earlier two‑step process, making tax entry faster and more intuitive.

3. Enhanced Tax Validation & New Exception Types

We’ve expanded tax validation to ensure system‑calculated tax matches supplier tax at both invoice line and invoice header levels.

To support this, four new exception types are introduced:

  • Over‑tax amount variance – Invoice line
  • Under‑tax amount variance – Invoice line
  • Over‑tax amount variance – Invoice header
  • Under‑tax amount variance – Invoice header

These provide better visibility into tax discrepancies and help resolve issues more efficiently.

Note:

The two existing tax variance exceptions will be retired. You may close them manually by bypassing them or use the upgrade script provided.

4. Updated Playbook Experience

The Review Tax Lines pane has been removed.

  • For all the customers, tax lines can still be added manually for each invoice line in the tax lines tab.
  • For customers using external tax integration, tax lines are created automatically, and you can now track their status in the new Review Compliance swimlane.

5. API Ingestion Behavior Remains the Same

  • For all the customers, If invoice payload includes tax lines, APO will continue to create them during API ingestion—no changes required.
  • For customers using external tax integration, tax lines cannot be created as they are automatically created based on the response from external tax system.
