ServiceNow® Software Asset Management offers a cohesive platform for technical teams to optimize technology spend, mitigate risk, and automate software lifecycle processes. By providing users with the capability to exercise precise control over their software and cloud expenses, this solution delivers immediate visibility into unlicensed installations, opportunities to recover licenses, and actionable software statuses categorized by publishers. This enables a proactive approach to managing software and cloud costs, empowering swift decision-making or the automated implementation of cost-saving initiatives to fortify financial budgets.

In the ServiceNow Platform® Yokohama release, there are three key features for ServiceNow Software Asset Management:

  1. Now Assist for Software Asset Management
  2. Software Asset Management guided setup
  3. SAP S/4HANA Cloud support – public

Now Assist for Software Asset Management

SAM managers need to comply with publisher contracts and licensing terms to avoid penalties and mitigate risk for their organization. However, these licensing requirements are often difficult to understand and time-consuming to process due to legal jargon and their lengthy nature. SAM managers also often manage extensive software estates with many different modules, which adds to the poor and confusing user experience.

SAM managers can use publisher compliance summarization to generate publisher insights on their software estate across software inventory, configuration health, and license compliance. Now Assist for Software Asset Management takes confusing licensing rules and simplify them into clear actionable items needed to meet compliance requirements, thus reducing risk and optimizing overall spend.

Software Asset Management guided setup

Setting up a new product can be a lengthy process that involves navigating through multiple modules and screens to complete requirements such as success goals, configuration, entitlements, reclamation rules, normalization, and more. With Software Asset Management guided setup, users receive prescriptive steps to set up a new SaaS or on-premise software product. It offers a single entry point to set up a product and eliminates the need for different modules and screens in the process. SAM guided setup improves user experience with a simple interface and provides easy-to-follow steps that minimize the time spent setting up a new product, resulting in lower time to value overall.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud support – public

Recently, there has been an increased demand for SAP cloud support as the trend of migration to the cloud grows. SAP S/4HANA Cloud support – public is an integration that expands support to the public cloud and the full user equivalent license model. With this, data is populated in the user subscription table to capture user information and the role that has been applied for that user. Users can also track the number of licenses used with the reconciliation process that leverages the FUE conversion model.

The Now Platform® Yokohama release introduces three key features for Software Asset Management. AI Agents helps SAM managers navigate complex licensing requirements and efficiently manage software estates. The guided setup feature simplifies the process of setting up new software products, while the integration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud support in the public cloud environment enhances license tracking capabilities for cloud migration demand.
