Hi there, I was wondering how you guys deal with products like the Beyond Compare product? As far as I understand the software for both the Standard and Professional version is identical but the functionality is unlocked by the licence key issued.
In Sam Pro the Discovery Map is looking for either Std or Pro being listed in the installed software and so will not find it as the software version is identical.
So how do you address these types of issues? Another example is Oracle Virtual Box which is free but if you install a plug in, it becomes licensable.

Hi @andynewey,
this is correct. At this point you've the following options:
- ask the packaging team to provide a software package for each edition to get the benefits for your discovery models
- Enhance your discovery process to get details about the licensing from your inventory system
- Allocate user to the correct entitlement
Please take care, as long the edition is not available from your discovery model, and you're creating entitlements with versions, you'll not able to link a software install record against this.
Best, Dennis

Thanks, that is what I thought. I have already started the duplicate installer request internally to address this.
