How come Display name changing in Software model ?

In my PDI I observed that display name have been changing by default by doing modification to the manufacturer, edition, version and name where as in my company dev instance though I given edition its not getting modified but working for version, manufacturer and name.

why??

Because on either one of the instances there is a difference. Either it is because of a version difference, or because of customization on one of the instances.
