How do I link entitlements to software models

We have loaded our entitlements and ran Discovery (from InTune). The discovered software installs map to the same software models as our entitlements, but the Licence Workbench shows everything as Unlicensed Installs.

Am I missing something silly? Why don't they show as "Licenced installs"?

@awthomson When you loaded your entitlements (depending on the license metric), did you also load the devices/users that are allocated/assigned to that particular entitlement? If not, then Workbench will definitely show it as Unlicensed installs. When ServiceNow reconciliation runs, it compares the discovered installations vs. what you are entitled for (and what you have allocated). This allows you to see which devices/users have the software installed but are not licensed for (you have not assigned the license).

Hope this helps! Please mark the answer as correct and/or helpful based on impact.

Hi @awthomson,

in order to expand on the comments made by @Engelica Adalia

  • did you publish the entitlements? When creating a new entitlement, by default the status is draft and it needs to be published to be active
  • Are required CI details missing to be covered by the metric, e.g., if the metric is "Per Core" and the CI data for CPU/Core is missing, all devices will be mentioned as "Unlicensed Installs", same could happend for missing assigned users for subscriptions entitlements.

Please share more details or screenshots for further help.

OK, some further detail, and hopefully I can resolve my issue?

Using Vancouver and SAMP.

I have created an entitlement for software name "ABC123" (an example), and the entitlement has been published. "License metric" = "Named User". "License type" = "Subscription".

InTune discovery has found 'x' number of unlicensed installs, and zero licenced installs.

The discovered Software Model Result matches the name of the Software Model in the Entitlement record.

The entitlement shows 30 active rights.

In the entitlement I have made one user allocation and this has been reflected in the number of "Allocations available".

But the number of unlicensed installs stays the same.

This situation is the same for all of our discovered software.

Can anyone suggest what I may have missed?

HI @awthomson,

got it, one reason could be a missing "Assigned User" for all these 30 devices.
