Title: Label change on “Software Discovery Model” table (cmdb_sam_sw_discovery_model)

Product: Asset Management

Version: Xanadu, Yokohama, or Zurich

Description:

  • We have feedback from Enterprise Architecture to relabel “Product” (norm_product) field in Software Discovery Model (cmdb_sam_sw_discovery_model) to software product.  The product field references the software product, so it makes sense to relabel.
  • It causes an issue when Enterprise Architect is dot walking from the TRM table to Software Discovery model and TRM product (sn_apm_trm_standards_product) where they are seeing a mismatch between terminology (product vs software product).
  • Enterprise Architecture/Application Portfolio Management don’t want to recommend changing the label on TRM product table because we have both software models and hardware models.

Hi @smithses ,

Even though it is referencing to software product table, on the discovery model this is the value of 'Normalized Product' which happens when normalization job runs. Sofwtare product is a base table in Servicenow which comes from Content Service whereas the data in discovery model table comes through discovery which needs Normalization that is why the name is 'Normalized Product'. From ITAM perspective we find this as more appropriate.
