Hi All,

Hope you are doing well.

There are a lot of queries coming related to How one can install SAM Pro on PDI (Personal Developer Instance) and Unable to find Software Asset Workspace on PDI even after SAM Pro Plugin installed successfully, and etc. Today, I am here to give the answers to all your queries for the same.

PART1:- To Install SAM Pro on your PDI, There are few steps that you need to follow:-

Step1 - Open the developer site "developer.servicenow.com" and sign in with your credentials.

Step2 - Go to Profile Section > Click on "Activate Plugin" and Type "Software Asset Management". Try to locate and choose an option "Software Asset Management Professional".

Step3 - Click on "Activate Plugin" or "Activate Plugin with demo data" that suits your requirement. This process will take some time to install the "SAM Pro" Plugin on your PDI.

To check for the Plugin installed on your PDI successfully, you can try searching for SAM Tables like:-

1. Software Installation - cmdb_sam_sw_install

2. Software Discovery Model - cmdb_sam_sw_discovery_model

3. Software Entitlements - alm_license

4. Content Service Setup - sn_samp_content_service_setup

5. Software Product Lifecycle - sam_sw_product_lifecycle

PART2:- Software Asset Workspace does not come with SAM Pro Plugin Installation and needs to be installed manually on your PDI. Proposing Solution in just 2 small steps:-

Step1 - Go to All > System Definition > Plugins

Step2 - Search for the plugin "SAM Playbooks and Guided Setups" and ID is "sn_sam_playbook".

This plugin will install the "Software Asset Workspace" on your PDI.

For reference, I added screenshots for both the parts "PART1" and "PART2" that helps in the navigation. For me, the plugin "SAM Playbooks and Guided Setups" is coming under the "Installed" Tab. But if the plugin is not installed in your PDI yet, it'll come under the "Available for you" Tab.

If my post over "Installation of SAM Pro Plugin and Software Asset Workspace on your PDI" finds you well, helpful, and related to the questions being asked by peoples in community. Please mark it as correct and helpful.

Thank You 🙂

A few days ago, I had fiddled around and tried to install as many modules as possible (ITOM and ITAM) in my PDI.

I see that all the tables are installed in my PDI, except for sn_samp_content_service_setup.

Does this mean that all of SAM Pro is installed on my PDI except for this one specific Content Service table?

Hi @iamkurt,

That's right. Among other things, the content service is one of the major added values of SAM Pro, and understandably, such content is only fully available in the licensed customer environments.

Please reach out to your ServiceNow contact and ask about a PoC within your customer environment.

Best, Dennis
