Hey, I'm looking for a way to configure licensing pools specific for:
- Country (e.g., licenses with deployment country limitation per T&C),
- Business Unit / Department / Company - siloing licenses.
We have a scenario where there's a single product (same sw model) that we license in various ways. Btw., we use customized software catalog items to process requests.
- One site purchases licenses only for that specific site. If requestor is from that site system should allocate them to an entitlement(s) dedicated for that site
- One Business Unit purchases licenses only for that business unit, should be checked if user is from within a BU for which there's dedicated entitlement
- Remainder of the organization should be reverted to a generic pool / purchase required
Therefore, we'd require the system to verify user attributes and allocate user to entitlement that matches these attributes. We pull these attributes from AD and our AD organization hierarchy is up to date in SN.
I know concurrent SAM tools allow, upon entitlement creation to define the if an entitlement should be allocated to top level (whole Organization) or alternatively it allows to go as low as BUs, departments, specific cities even, or alternatively - per country. Is it just me who can't find a proper option in SAMPro? I know one can run reconciliation centered around different groups (country, department, company, region, cost center) and then a subgroup - but this looks like a different feature, purposed more for granular analysis/crosscharge, rather than entitlement allocation.
