Hey,
We have windows server datacenter 2022 which is overutilized and standard 2022 which is underutilized , since datacenter is overutilized so I need to consume overutilized license to standard 2022 since, we have SA that we can use standard too.
Ideally how can i map the datacenter 2022 server license with standard 2022 server ?
Thank You

Hi Sonakshi,
ServiceNow approach for optimization in clustered environments is ServiceNow SAM supports automatic optimization of Windows Server licenses in a cluster environment. Through this feature, if a cluster has a high density of virtual machines running the system will optimally assign Windows Server Datacenter licenses, and if the cluster is having low density of virtual machines, then Windows Server Standard licenses are optimally assigned to the cluster, saving significant costs.
I hope this answers your question and you can also refer to the attachment.

By default in Datacenter software model downgrade rights for Standard are added which will capture Standard as well. If it is not working as expected you can check your downgrade rights.

Hi Aditya,
Thank you for the response.
What if i need to consume windows server (cloud) standard 2022 license against (on- prem) datacenter 2022 license. We have entitlement for standard. Do we need to create separate software model record for standard license ?
