Hi Team,

Did anyone configure Oracle and VMware publisher packs in SAMPRO? If yes, what are the steps after completing discovery of oracle and VMware?

Thanks,

Hi @servicenow begi,

for VMware, please perform the vCenter connection, it offers a SAM part to get more details of a vCenter (Data collected for VMware vCenter Server). Other VMware apps are part of standard software discovery or as mentioned the consumption needs to be added manually for special software which can't be discovered.

All requirements for Oracle and GLAS are mentioned here. Please get in touch which your Oracle DBA to get the access and run a few discoverys and analyse the discovery logs for any permissons issues - Oracle Global License Advisory Services (GLAS) data collection. I also recommend this detailed SAM blog about Oracle GLAS - GLAS data collection & Oracle Options & Management Pack processing, compliance in SAM.

Thanks for the quick response. Regarding VMWARE discovery, since discovery is already running in my instance . I checked this link: Data collected for VMware vCenter Server and verified VMWare License Key [samp_vmware_license_key] and VMWare License Key Usage [samp_vmware_license_key_usage] table. I see data in both of these tables. Does is mean , vcenter connection is already up and running in my system?

Hi @servicenow begi,

yes, looks good. You could do a second check and verify that "vCenter" and "ESX" data is available in your instance. (You can use the quick menu and search for vCenter / ESX).

As next step you should start with the onboarding of your VMware entitlements and running a first recon to get results, e.g., for vCenter.

For any additional questions regarding the mentioned publisher I would recommend to open a new topic, so it's easier for other community members to find dedicated publisher questions.

Please ensure you've completed the ServiceNow SAM Pro Now Learning and take a look into the Ranger Sessions about SAM Pro - (2) Ask a Ranger: Software Asset Management - YouTube.
