SAM Pro : Reconciliation - Not Licensable product showing an non compliant

Hi,

I have a Product -  DWG TrueView which is Not Licensable however it is showing an non compliant due to unlicensed installs.

Steps i have taken to try fix this.

  • Ran reconciliation on publisher again
  • Deleted model and re-created
  • Discovery model update
  • Created entitlement which shows on the model but not in reconciliation "unlicensed install" screenshot. Tried different metrics and ran reconciliation etc

Also, Autodesk Architecture Engineering and Construction Collection is a suite parent which is user subscription and is showing unlicensed installs. Is there a way to ignore unlicensed installs for suites?

It is user subscription so shouldnt matter how many installs we have as long as the subscriptions are compliant.

We have this issue for Adobe, Microsoft etc

I have had to created entitlement for each product for unlicensed installs just to get it into compliance but surely there is a better way?

Thanks in advance,

Is there a solution for this scenario? I am facing the exact same issue with our Autocad, Adobe, Microsoft products. For example, we install MS Project for everyone as part of our Office Suite but only users with a subscription can actually log in. I want to ignore the software installations and not have them flagged as non-compliant.

Do I really need to create a dummy entitlement for these?

Hi @ShariWilkins,

let's see if we can solve your multiple issues steps by step. lets start with DWG TrueView. For me it looks like a discovery model and or data issue within SAMP (maybe recon engine). Could you please try the following steps

  • Share another screenshot of the linked discovery model for one of the unlicensed installs.
  • Remove all software installation data for the product in scope from cmdb_sam_sw_install
  • Run the scheduled job to remove all discovery models without a software installation "SAM - Delete Discovery Models if there are no related Installations"
  • Verify that all discovery models related to DWG TrueView are removed
  • Remove any DWG software model
  • Run a reconciliation for publisher Autodesk and verify that TrueView is no longer available in the workspace view

  • Run a your inventory imports to get the latest software installation records for DWG TrueView
  • Matching discovery models are created by SAMP and should be marked as "not licensable" as product type
  • Run a reconciliation for publisher Autodesk and verify that TrueView is no longer available in the workspace view

  • If nothing changed, please raise a ServiceNow support case

Hi @ShariWilkins@Anwer,

no, it's not possible to ignore the installs for a user subscription product. The main reason could be, that the assigned user is empty for the identified devices. Could you please check and assign a valid subscription user as assigned user.

With W.DC a new feature/indicator was introduced - "Installs requiring action". Publisher overview for Microsoft in the Software Asset Workspace (servicenow.com). These actions are alligned with the ITAM health check and will help to identify and close all the SAM gaps. It looks like you're not yet running W.DC - until the upgrade is completed, I would recommend to use the ITAM health check to identify any SAM related issue based on ServiceNow best practices. ServiceNow Store - ITAM Health Check application
