SAM - USer Allocation from License Entitlement

Hi SAM Forum,

does anynore have an experience of a property or configuration required to consider the "user Allocations" from a License Entitlement in the Compliance result?

For instance i created a license entitlement (alm_Entitlement) with 20 actives rights.

i then create the user allocation manually and assign the license to 10Users from the "sys_user"

in the License i now see: active License 10, which is rifght.

BUT in the compliance report, "License metric result" the allocations arent considered. See picture

Do you have any hint for me?

Hi @FranckM,

User Allocations on an entitlement do not directly affect the License Metric Results. The compliance engine calculates Licenses Required based on reconciled consumption (installations, subscriptions, or other metric-specific usage records).

In your screenshot:

Licenses Owned = 20
Licenses Required = 0
Licenses Available = 20

This indicates that SAM has recognized the entitlement rights, but has not detected any consumption for those 10 allocated users.

Verify:

  • The entitlement is linked to the correct Software Model.
  • The metric is configured as Per User.
  • The users have corresponding software installations/subscriptions.
  • Reconcile Software Licenses has been run after creating the allocations.

User Allocations assign license rights, but they do not create consumption. If Licenses Required remains 0, SAM is not finding any licensable consumption to reconcile against those allocations.

This is expected behavior per the SAM reconciliation and compliance calculation process.
