SAM versions

Hi

The ServiceNow documentation is unclear on the differences between the old SAM application that came with IT Asset Management (not the newer foundation plug-in), and the new separate subscription SAM Pro.

If the old SAM is still installed is the new content (eg publisher packs for Oracle,IBM) available and usable or will an upgrade to PRO be required.

Regards

An upgrade is required and is $$.

Hi,

as you can see from this slide, Publisher Packs are only in Professional (also known as Premium)

For more info you can have a look to my article in the community where I explain some of the features listed above:

Thanks marconappo , very helpful.

So the publisher packs and other new features are not available. I assume the old Software Asset Management add-ons such as the Oracle Process Pack and the IBM PVU Process pack are still installable ( not in the list of plug-ins anymore but requestable on Hi) ?

Hi,

Installation of either SAM Foundations or SAM Professional renders the ITSM SAM Plugin unusable.  Be sure you want to use the new features before installing the new plugins unless you have a recovery plan.

And yes, the older IBM and Oracle plugins are still requestable by customers with the ITSM SAM Plugin already installed. I recommend you be very specific when asking for these.  You'll want to preclude confusion between the plugins you are asking for and the new Oracle and IBM Publisher packs.  It seems possible that human error could result in the new packs being installed.  In this case, they have a prerequisite of SAM Professional which would also be installed rendering your ITSM SAM Plugin install useless.
