Hi all,
I have some questions about SAMP True-Up costs.
According to this post, True-ups are calculated based on entitlements among some other calculations. What if you don't have entitlements? Our current work around is to create fake entitlements with zero purchased rights so that we can add a unit cost, which is a lot of work. The dashboard should reflect your total true-up cost across the environment, especially those software vendors that you haven't purchased any licenses for.
Wouldn't this information pull from the software model? We tried using the override cost as well but it seems to be hit or miss if we can even have that option to edit in the software model.
Is anyone else running into the same issue?
Thanks!

Hi @oberlel ,
As stated in the linked article it requires an active entitlement with use rights (minimum 1 entitlement with 1 use right).
What’s the current limitation to provide details of the purchase to avoid any kind of these mentioned workarounds? If your unable to find, you should work with assumptions … use the price which publicly available, current used software is covered = same amount of use rights or just add 1 useright to have the reference for the true up calculation of needed entitlements.

Hi Dennis,
I want to make sure I understand. Are you saying that we should enter an entitlement with a purchase of quantity 1 with the license price in order for true-up cost to calculate? I feel like that could possibly cause false positives for compliance and be misleading with the data.
I wouldn't want to add an entitlement if we do not have any actual purchase records.
Is there any way for the calculations to use the software model cost? Or even the override cost field?
Thanks for the quick response!
Lisa

Hi, all the financial results are based on entitlements, metrics, quantity and prices etc. and taken into account. Entitlements with 0 use rights aren’t usefully. So yes, my answer is in general about having minimum 1 active use rights to be able use the benefit of e.g., overwrite license costs.
Best, Dennis
