Is it possible to add additional software model lifecycle phases ? If yes, what are these known as ?

What additional software model lifecycle phases are you looking to add?

The SW model lifecycle data is coming from ServiceNow's Content Library and should not be changed.

Not a specific phase, if a a generalised phase need to be added based on requirement then what would it be referred to as to explain it to a client?

It is possible to add your own lifecycles with a related list on the form of your software models. You can distinguish them with the field "Source". The ones you create are known as "Internal", the ones from the content library are known as "ServiceNow".
