Unlicensed Install

Hi Guys,

Could you please assist me with the unlicensed installs

I get a count on the reconciliation results for a product with 50 unlicensed installs but I do not see the same count on the License position report. Instead i see as 'Zero'

Metric Group : Adobe

License Metric : User Subscription

Further, If i have 20 Creative Cloud licenses and 30 separate Photoshop subscription. Do I need to create an entitlement separately.

We've made changes to how this works in the Madrid release.

---------------------------------------------

Jakarta - Kingston

You need a SW Entitlement created to see a Product Result

Everything else goes into the <Unlicensed Installs> bucket

London

You need a SW Entitlement created to see a Product Result

Everything else goes into the <Unlicensed Installs> bucket

We added a warning message, alerting the SAM Admin installs exist with no matching SW Entitlements.

Madrid

You no longer need a SW Entitlement  to see a Product Result

Software Models auto-created for "Licensable" Discovery Models

Product Results created for all Software Models.

System Property flag controls the behavior

After this is setup, the <Unlicensed Installs> bucket would mainly be SW Installs that are <partially normalized>.

Second part of your question....

Yes, you need a separate SW Entitlement to track the 30 stand-alone Photoshop subscriptions.

2 Entitlements

(20) of Adobe CC

(30) of Adobe Photoshop

Subscriptions coming in from the Adobe portal would tell us the USER and the SW Model.

ServiceNow counts both sides and provides you 2 compliance positions for Adobe CC and Adobe Photoshop.

Hope this helps!

Hey @cody_wolf

Thanks for giving this understanding on "Unlicensed Install". Even today in the Utah release(Vancouver still not using) many things have been changed or I can say updated, but the basic concept is the same. Thanks for this. Just tried to provide the details in visualization, maybe it can be helpful for someone.

I am seeing duplicate devices for "Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional Windows" marked as "unlicensed installs". The count is showing 6 but there are only 3 unique devices. They are across 3 discovery models but all align to one s/w model - Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional Windows. Please see screenshot. Can anyone advise why  SN counts them twice? Is it because one instance has a version number and one does not? Ideally should be counted as 1 unlicensed install regardless? Thanks,
