Unlicensed installs reported for software model with available entitlements

Hi,

I have a software product / software model result that is reporting 7 licensed installs and 11 unlicensed installs after reconciliation. I have reviewed the software installation table and have validated a total of 18 installations. All installations have a 'software discovery model' which is normalized and related to the same 'software model' for which there is a 'software entitlement' for 10 entitlements.

The entitlement is perpetual per user and the 'software model' is configured as licensable and under management. I have followed the reconciliation troubleshooting steps, however unable to determine why only 7 of the installations are being counted as licensed where I would expect 10 to be licensed installs and 8 unlicensed.

Interestingly when I look at the License Position Report, it reports 10 rights owned and 21 consumed which is causing further confusion as I can't find more than 18 installations.

Any thoughts on where to investigate further to identify how the reconciliation is handling those records?

hi @dimitrisala  it would be helpful to have some more details on this issue, or you can open a case with servicenow to look into further. it could be that the assigned to user is not populated on the device with installs

Hi @SrinivasRamanu1, thanks for the suggestion. There appears to be devices without an 'assigned to' in both the licensed installs and unlicensed installs so don't think this is the issue. On that point though are you saying generally if a device with installations does not have an 'assigned to' populated then it will not be counted as a licensed install for entitlements that are 'per user'?

To provide an update, I eventually managed to get the first 10 installs to be classified as licensed installs.

It appears that there was an additional discovery model which was not normalised for a couple of the installations. Interestingly it seemed that despite not being normalised and not included in the product result, i can only assume that they were still being counted in the reconciliation but not displayed on the 'licensed installs' list which to my understanding should not be the expected behaviour. After normalising the additional discovery model and relating it to the software model the installs were included in the product result and the licensed installs / unlicensed installs appear to be correct, consuming all 10 available entitlements.

The license position report also now reflects the correct number of installations.

Has anyone experienced this issue?
