What happens in SAM if desktops/laptops are taken offline and no longer discoverable?

Do available licenses get update if desktops/laptops are taken offline and no longer discoverable but the software is not uninstalled?

Scenario:

If a desktop has not been discovered for 12 months.  Do the licenses consumed by that desktop become available?

Hi @StevieD13,

In principle, the installations will continue to be taken into account by Reconcile and will thus generate license usage. You now have the following options:

- Improve the hardware asset management process so that obsolete devices are completely decommissioned. This includes cleaning up the inventory source and changing the status of the asset/CI to “Install Status = Retired”. This status change automatically deletes all software installations of the CI (business rules).

- You can also use a logic to identify the affected devices and use the “Exclude from SAM” function. This means that the installations are no longer taken into account and the asset team can take care of all processes. Exclude software assets on CIs
