How does the role - 'role_delegator' work?

Chuck Tomasi's Blog Hello,

I am interested to know how the 'role_delegator' role works.

Can the users with the role 'role_delegator' have the ability to add roles to other users? If yes, then i see that the users do not have access to the Edit button to give roles.

Looking forward for some help on this.

According to what I read, Gangundi, the role_delegator can delegate roles they have (not any role.)

I do not see the 'Roles to delegate' field on the 'Catalog Item'.

Nor can i see the edit button on the Roles related list for the users having role_delegator so that they may add new roles. Am i missing anything? Please help me understand.
