Has anyone had success in showing the Sequence tasks on the RITM before they are created? We have groups creating duplicate tasks because they do not realize the sequence tasks will be created once their task is closed.

You can click on "show workflow" related link in RITM. It shows the current activity and next activities(create sequential task).

When I click on the Work Flow I get the generic basic flow, you are saying the Work Flow can show the specific flow for that Catalog Item?

Not Specific but in basic flow, User can check his current status and next activity after close/cancellation of Task.
Also you can disable the Create new task option in RITM related list.
