Hello Experts,
I am pretty new to Servicenow Discovery. We have requirement to decide how many MID server will be required for the Data centers? Is there any rule of thumb how many MIDs should be installed? We have as below.
DC-1 (~ 2500) Includes all Servers + Network Devices
DC-2 (~1600) Only Servers
DC-3 (~4350) Includes all Servers + Network Devices
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Basically you could run a Discovery only with one MID Server, but this is not recommended and especially in your case you should have at least one MID Server per Data Center. An additional differentiation could be considered when separating MID Servers based on capabilities. For example, I would recommend having a MID Server configured only for SNMP based devices.
ServiceNow offers a MID Server calculation sheet (see attached Excel file) which helps to find out how long it will take to perform a Discovery run depended on the amount of MID Servers you have.
Kind regards
Maik
