Managing data lifecycle rules just got a whole lot easier. With the Australia release patch 4, ServiceNow reimagined how administrators create and manage data management rules directly inside the Data Management Console, replacing fragmented, form-heavy experiences with a new guided flow.
What's New
Rule Management in the Data Management Console brings a streamlined, step-by-step interface for configuring Archive, Cleanup, and One-Time Delete rules, all from a single, unified experience. Rather than navigating disconnected forms in the previous experience, administrators now move through a logical sequence of pages that surface the right options at the right time, with built-in validations and contextual guidance throughout. The guided experience walks admins through each configuration step, from naming and defining conditions to managing related records and reviewing a summary before saving. Intelligent defaults, like rollback context enabled out of the box for One-Time Delete rules, reduce configuration errors without requiring deep platform expertise.
Why It Matters
Data administrators have long relied on the classic, form-based experience to configure data management rules, an experience that works but requires significant platform familiarity. Rule visibility arrived in Zurich; Australia patch 4 adds full rule management. The new rule management experience lowers the barrier to entry, reduces misconfiguration risk, and makes it easier to operationalize data lifecycle policies at scale. Whether you're configuring your first cleanup rule or fine-tuning archive and delete settings for a high-volume table, the Data Management Console now provides the context and guardrails to do it confidently.
Getting Started
Rule Management in Data Management Console is available in the Australia release patch 4. To explore the feature, open the Data Management Console and select Create rule from either the Overview tab or the Rules tab on a table's details page. Refer to the ServiceNow product documentation below for configuration guidance and property details.
Give the new experience a try on your next data cleanup or archive project, and stay tuned as we continue expanding rule management in upcoming releases.
