Add Build Agent as a Native Tool Type in AI Agent Configuration

It would be valuable to provide Build Agent as a native option within the Add tool menu when configuring a ServiceNow AI Agent.

Currently, AI Agents can be configured with different tool types, including MCP server tools, Flow actions, Subflows, Scripts, Now Assist skills, and others. It would be helpful if Build Agent were also available directly as a tool type.

For example:

AI Agent → Tools → Add tool → Build Agent

The administrator/developer could then select Build Agent and allow the AI Agent to invoke it when required.

This could make it easier to create agentic solutions where one AI Agent is responsible for understanding the user's intent, planning or orchestrating the work, while a specialized Build Agent performs the actual build-related task.

Although MCP Server tools can provide an integration mechanism, having native Build Agent support could reduce the need for an additional integration layer when both capabilities already exist within the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Potential benefits:

  • Simpler configuration and architecture
  • Reduced dependency on MCP solely for connecting an AI Agent to a Build Agent
  • Easier reuse of existing Build Agents
  • Better separation between orchestration/reasoning and specialized build execution
  • More intuitive experience for ServiceNow developers
  • Easier creation of multi-agent or agent-to-agent workflows
  • Potential to pass structured inputs to a Build Agent and receive structured results back

Example use case:
An AI Agent receives a request such as creating or modifying a ServiceNow application component. The AI Agent determines what needs to be done and directly invokes the Build Agent as one of its tools. The Build Agent performs the specialized build task and returns the result to the calling AI Agent.

This would make Build Agents feel like first-class reusable capabilities within the AI Agent framework, rather than requiring developers to expose them through another integration mechanism.
