Allow external vendors to submit catalog requests

Hi,

Our customer got their catalog store linked up with SSO.

So their internal users logs into the company's cloud and can then access and order catalog items.

now they want to allow their external vendors to view certain(not all) catalog items without logging into companies cloud.

they can have users within servicenow for authentication purposes as long as they don't have to buy licenses and users don't actually interface with servicenow.

just wanted an advise as to what could be a better way to approach this.

Your statement is a little bit of a contradiction.

If these users must use the service catalog than they are interacting with ServiceNow.

Anyway If i'm not wrong simple users with no role can access the service catalog.

In this specific case, if the users have no roles I don't think you need more licenses.

It also seems quite interesting the first statement "Our customer got their catalog store linked up with SSO."

This means that the user must be registered in AD and of course in ServiceNow.

What they are looking for is an hybrid model where all of the users are registered in ServiceNow but only some of them against AD using SSO.

To be honest I don't know if this hybrid model is a good thing for security.

Am i missing something ?

Hi R0bo,

their internal customers are registered against AD and can see all service catalog items. but they don't want the vendors to see all catalog items, may be a couple of items to order and thats it, and nothing else in Servicenow, if it was full access to catalog then we could create user with no role and redirect to ess or catalog.

If all their internal customers are registered against AD it is a good starting point.

Anyway to exclude or allow users to see element in a service catalog usually is enough to use 'user criteria'.
