Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding licensing:
- If users have the itil_admin role, can they also have the announcement_admin role without incurring additional license costs?
-If users have the itil role, can they also have the announcement_admin role without incurring additional license costs?
A detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi @vguadagni,
licensing is very fragile topic in ServiceNow, however in this case if a user has itil, no "lower" license are subject of additional costs, the user shall be licensed for the "highest" gained role.
If you want to be super sure, ask the person in your company dedicated to the license topics. Each company shall have one.

Hi @vguadagni ,
The best way to create a didicated group with role "announcement_admin" and add all users who are suppose to create/update annoucements. However this role doesn't not count for license purpose, mainly itil role is count ( if role based licenseing model ).
For more clear understanding, its best to connect with your ServiceNow account manager.
-Thanks,

Hi @vguadagni
at table license_role you can lookup roles and which type they have. The referenced announcement_admin role is of type "Requester" and thus free at all. So you can assign that role to any user without any licensing issues.

Hi @vguadagni
Whenever it comes to licensing, it’s best to speak with your ServiceNow Account Manager. They can guide you more clearly and accurately based on your specific setup and needs.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.
