API Class Definitions

Hi folks

Can anyone offer me basic definitions of the API Classes in ServiceNow CMDB please? Particularly:

API (Parent Class)

Managed API (appears to be a Child of that Parent above - how would you decide whether to classify a CI here or in the base API Class?)

API Front-End

API Back-End
