Can Manage Documents be linked to existing Knowledge articles

We are looking into using Managed Documents as a repository for files that are attached to knowledge articles. We currently use a SharePoint as a file repository and like the idea of keeping everything in ServiceNow but we don't want to recreate the wheel creating new articles where we have current articles that include attachments, we'd like to add the attachments to Manage Documents and then link to the appropriate existing article.

Hi Patty,

Did you find an answer to this?

I am also trying to establish if we can link existing Knowledge articles to a new managed Document and haven't been able to find the answer yet.

Kind Regards,

Ashley

Hi,

I know this post is old but just trying my luck if you ever you get a chance to make this work?

Thanks.

We are having the same issue, has anyone found any solution to this?

The ability to provide an embedded link in an article that gets updated as opposed to a link provided by a widget would also be of great benefit.

Hi @pattym ,

The "Knowledge Document" plugin Summary information"This plugin adds knowledge based functionalities to the document management plugin. You can create a knowledge article from a document, or update a knowledge document to a newer revision."

The last part that says update a (knowledge document) it didn't say knowledge article. We can request ServiceNow a new enhancement to add (linking existing Knowledge articles AND EDITING  it) this functionality is crucial since it might benefit almost every client leveraging all the KB articles that have been created so far within the platform.

Thanks,

MK

Shloke, these are great instructions.

Could you please tell me, is there a way to link a newly saved Managed Doc to and already existing KA article?  Perhaps there is a similar "permalink" function available from Managed Documents that could be used?

Any thoughts or additional direction would be greatly appreciated!  🙂
