CMDB Health - Required Fields

Client requirements:-

As CMDB administrator, I want to configure the following required fields for every Principal CI Class so that Health dashboard displays metrics that provide value.

Name

Serial Number

Support Group

Change Group

Managed y Group

Model ID

Seems half information. where you want to show in dashboard? Please provide some screenshot and more details.

I suggest that for those CI Classes that are configured as a Principal CI Class, that you set these fields as recommended. This will then allow for a Discovery tool or other integration be able to create the records in the CMDB, even if these fields are not provided. Then once you have the health dashboard scheduled jobs running, those CIs that do not have these fields will appear as part of the Completeness score.

I also suggest a UI policy be placed on these Principal CI Classes forms that show these fields are mandatory when a user is on the record to update it.

If you make the fields mandatory at a database level, then a CI will be prevented from being created. It is better to have partial information on a CI than no information.
