Creating Business services - what is view map and BSM

Hi,

I am trying to create Business service maps manually. Which would be used to understand the application dependencies and to analyze impact

while creating incidents and changes.

Totally confused on where to start.   When I goto Configuration -> Business Services -> New. It is showing options to relate items and to view BSM.

Not able to understand the option "Convert to manual". For testing purpose I have converted it to Manual..now i see option to "View Map",

how is this different from BSM?

Why the views are different from "View map" and BSM?

I'd like to see answers to Pranav's questions as well.



We have some legacy servers running iSeries that our rep said we can't map using ServiceMapping but when asked if we could manually do it, they couldn't give us a straight answer. They mentioned building our own custom models but they'd have to look into it.



For servers that aren't within scope, it would be nice if we could manually create and maintain them. It's not like we're mapping out our entire farm, discovery and mapping is getting us 96% there..
