After disabling commenting at the knowledge base level (via the disable commenting checkbox), why is the comment box continuing to present on some articles in the knowledge base where it was disabled? I'm unclear as to why I'm seeing this inconsistency. I checked to see if the disable comment checkbox had been exposed at the article level and it has not.

Any chance there's a role/user criteria disagreement? That is, any chance you don't have the checkbox exposed at the article level, but perhaps an admin does/did? I'm trying to think of ideas for why this would happen, and that's really my best guess right now.

Thank you Kevin. We will look into the role/user criteria to see if there's a conflict. I don't think there is, but you never know.

Try checking for the articles created after the checkbox is enabled, For the articles created before enabling the checkbox comment section will be visible.
