Display Name on Journal comments/work notes

To reference users, ServiceNow uses First_Name + Last_ Name, we have many users that their display name (in Outlook, for example) is totally different from their names and user ID. 

So were able to import the Display Name from AD to ServiceNow and transform correctly. Fields like Assigned To, Caller, etc are getting the Display Name correctly.

The question we are facing now is how to force the Journal entries to shown the user's Display Name instead of First_Name + Last_ Name.

Now I have no clue where to make the journals to show, anyone ever tried or know where to start?

Thanks for the detailed information.

So, I get there are 2 fields now in system

1. John Doe (Name fields is OOB & combines First & Last Name)

2. Joe Doe (Custom field created so as to get value same as in AD display name)

Of the above fields which field is having Display value set as true.

Did you ever figure this out? I am recently facing the exact same issue. (Amazing how that works out sometimes.)

If I don't hear back, and if I can solve for this on my end, I'll share an update. As this post is now 2 years old I hope it will be helpful.

We have a similar requirement. Would it be possible to change the display name on Journal to include user ID as well?
