I think you should open a support case in HI. It is difficult to say, what the problem is whitout access to your instance.

Hello, I have a similar requirement, but I wanted to see if there is a way to check via a script if the approver variable exists in the catalog item before using the Get Catalog Variables or Ask for approval actions. Custom Action perhaps?

I realize this is an older question but I also run into this issue and I'm on Tokyo... I have a flow, just one example, where I am setting the value of a catalog variable... in say step 13, and step 14 is a Get Catalog Variables... and it returns empty...
I was wondering if anyone had actually put in a case... because the only fix I've found was to put in a small timer before the "Get Catalog Variables" step... 5-10 seconds... so the record updates complete... cuz it just feels like the flow might be moving too fast to get data.
