How to display contents of a field in a widget?

Hello,

I'm new to SP and developing widgets, so forgive the naivete of my question. I have a date field in a table, the contents of which I'd like to display on a service portal page in a widget. What would I need to do when creating a new widget to display the contents of the date field? It's in the HR Service Platform package. HR Profile.Employment Start Date is the field.

Hi Barron, the best way is to go to widget editor and edit an existing widget to see how it works. How it picks up the value from DB, etc. Also this will be a good start: Create a widget
