Introduction to the Content Management System

Not applicable

The Service-now.com Content Management System (CMS) is designed to provide a b2c interface between the IT department and the user community. Rich in functionality, the CMS uses a familiar interface while integrating with the existing Sevice-now.com implementation. Robust style and customization options allow easy corporate branding and standards-based building blocks designed for use by non-programmers. This session will provide an overview of the CMS and focus on the Pioneer Natural Resources and Queensland Transport deployments.

Can you load Pioneer into the Army demo?

If not is there a demo/white paper on how to create (I think it's called) a content blocks that when clicked will direct you to a page with a Service Catalog category and its Service Catalog Items.

We are looking to create a CMS look of our servicenow instance. The PDF above was very basic and lacked some critical info on how to build content types, detail pages, search engines, etc... Could you elaborate on exercise 4 and 5? I have the knowledge base content working, but there was a predefined template for that. I would like to get the same thing for Catalog Items, My Requests, and Incident pages.

Jeff,
For ideas on linking within the catalog, open up the Austere theme requests page and take a quick look at the left hand column's top 5 requests. If you turn off the "advanced" selection in the content block, then you will see that it allows you to select a table, to draw from (sc_cat_item for the purposes of this catalog discussion) and use simple filter queries to fine tune the results. Typically I create a Catalog Entry pages by establishing the categories in the catalog, then create lists (block) for each category. Once I have the lists created I lay them out accordingly on the Catalog entry page I created. I will be updating the Content Management Wiki pages for the release on June 4th, I'll be sure to walk through linking to Catalog items in the WIKI. Take a look after the 4th.

cheers,
Mark
