Is the 'Connection Strength' field on CI Relationships a legacy field?

I was looking for documentation on the use of 'Connection Strength' on the Relationship Form. The field still exists in San Diego, but in the CMDB documentation I cannot found anything about the field. 

Am I looking in the wrong place, or is it likely that the field will disappear at some point?

It's one of the many legacy fields that do indeed need to be cleaned up from net-new instances. This one however has never been used afaik. From memory, it was implemented with future development in-mind which never got progressed

I suspected that this would be the case. 

@scott.lemm : Can you confirm that the attribute is indeed legacy and/or will be removed at some point?
