Linking to Network File within KB Article

I have been trying to find a way to create a hyperlink within a ServiceNow KB article to network file without any luck. The links keep trying to open within the browser instead of file explorer, even when using the file:// prefix.

Has anyone found a way to do so other than posting the network path and copy/pasting into a command line?

We haven't found a solution, just a workaround. Instead of linking to our system where the articles are today, we are reversing the order.



We are going to now host articles as KB articles in ServiceNow, then link to the KB article within the external application.
