We just upgraded to London and the 'mandatory' variables that were selected are not shown on the RITM. The variable fields are visible but they are empty.
Request that were submitted prior to the upgrade are not affected. We can see the populated variables on those RITM.

With help from HI support we found that the issue was attributed to the SP and SC Catalog Item widget which we had customized. The widget was not passing the variables. Installed the OOTB SC catalog Item widget and the variables are now being passed to the RITM.

Hello,
Which London Patch did you upgrade to? Patch 2? There is known issue related to mandatory variables in service catalog.
This issue is reported on PRB1301731, The complete fix for this issue is available in Kingston Patch 11 and London Patch 3, upgrading to these versions will fix the issue.
The workaround for current version is to set the variable "Mandatory" to false at the variable definition and control the mandatory field via UI policy.
Thanks

Hi
1).If you are London version, I want you to make a note that , if you have a variable set with same name as variable, it won't populate as in London while creating a variable set "internal name" is an field added which auto populates as you give the name of variable set. When you add the same name in variable same back-end name is auto-populated which makes the problem. It doesnt know which value to take a the variable and variable set name becomes same. I would want you to change the back-end name of either one.
2). Try making the variable "Global" as it would take the value of variable to the RITM.
Mark correct if it helps.

Omkar Mone.

We are London Patch 3. We make sure that Variables and Variable sets do not share the same name.

Is it every mandatory variable or is it one type of variable?
variable on item set to mandatory
variable on item but mandatory set by policy
variables in a variable set are mandatory but policy also active
etc
I tend to have all my variables in variable sets set to mandatory false as they can be difficult to control with other policies if any of the variables in the set are mandatory.
We did have an issue where labels were being created with mandatory and they were not showing but that was a weird case
