Moving KB topic from Dev to Test?

Hello I am new to SN and my first project is to create a Knowledge Base topic that users can add articles to, edit, etc. I figured out how to create it in Dev and created an update set and moved it to Test. However, my update set just changed the KB form, and my KB topic did not transfer over. I think I need to create a "new update set" for the new KB topic to be able to transfer it from Dev to test and test to Production?? How do I create a NEW update set, for a new KB topic? I am working in Aspen version

Hi Nicole,

To create a new update set, navigate to System Update Sets -> Local Update Sets.   In the list view click on New.   There's a place on the form to enable this update set as your current set, place a check in that field.   Once you have named it and clicked in the "My Current Set" box then choose Submit.   Just in case you need it, here is the wiki article on this topic in better detail - Using Update Sets - ServiceNow Wiki.

Hi Nicole,

Just a little thing further to Brad's response. If the changes haven't been transferred over from DEV to TEST if could be that they've not been captured in the update set. You can make sure that your changes have been captured by going in to Update Sets -> Local Update Sets, finding and selecting your update set and at the bottom of the page you will likely see a section called 'Customer Updates'. This will list everything contained within the update set. I've looked at this and what you should see if you've added a new 'Topic' value is:

Type: Choice list

Target Name: Knowledge.Topic

Action: INSERT_OR_UPDATE

Always worth a check to see if they're in there before passing the set in to TEST.

Cheers,

DEVwithRaisersEdge.pngno new KB topic in test.pngupdateset.pngOk that all seems right. The thing is when I look in TEST under knowledgebase, I am not seeing my "Raiser's Edge" KB topic that I created?? I provided some screen shots, hopefully that helps.

Knowledge base articles do not get transferred over with update sets.   You need to make sure that you have an article in test with the topic of "Raiser's Edge".
