Hello I am new to SN and my first project is to create a Knowledge Base topic that users can add articles to, edit, etc. I figured out how to create it in Dev and created an update set and moved it to Test. However, my update set just changed the KB form, and my KB topic did not transfer over. I think I need to create a "new update set" for the new KB topic to be able to transfer it from Dev to test and test to Production?? How do I create a NEW update set, for a new KB topic? I am working in Aspen version

I can respond for my case. I am working on a new instance which is replacing the dreaded "R" product. We stood up the development instance first, which will then be moved to test and then to prod. In order to obtain "poweruser" feedback on the new system we moved an extensive SharePoint knowledge base in to the dev instance. Since significant work was involved in reformatting and refining the articles on import it would be very nice to be able to bring them cleanly in to the production environment when it is stood up. It is probably a one time import since once the client transitions from the previous product to ServiceNow they would no longer maintain the SharePoint knowledge base.
Thinking on it a little more - it would also be helpful to move the KB in the future to a "training" instance where we can train new employees in a "sandbox" that includes the articles and capabilities of the production instance. Besides the initial transition training, new employee training is usually conducted once a month and we envision being able to use either Dev or Test for that if they are in a stable state at the time that matches the production instance.

We are using a dev environment to set up the KBs for the first time. We will be importing articles from another KB tool. Once templates are set, user profiles created, I suspect I will then have everything on PROD and will use that environment from then on.

Hallie -
You mentioned "Once templates are set", is there a place to do this in v3? If so, could you share that information? I've been looking for a way to them up but haven't found any.

Has this problem been addressed? Another usage case is 3rd party developers would like to include a knowledge that is associated with their product.

Andy - I have not seen it addressed. Probably need to ask some ServiceNow folks - I can certainly see the utility of your use case. the KB would seem the logical place to put any app documentation.
