Outbound IP address

Stephen Whitney

In order to set up LDAP authentication I need to whitelist the IP of the connection from my instance to my organizations' LDAP server. The IP address listed in hi is not the IP address that attempted to connect the the LDAP. Before I can get the IP address updated I need to verify that the outbound addresses do not change.

I looked a little further into your case by reviewing what you are seeing when looking at the "My IP Address" page. The UI seems to be a little off in your case. There should be two column headers. You only have a column header in the second column (your passive side). The first column is where you will find the current data. I have highlighted and outlined the cell that contains the IP address used for integrations into your network.

Hi Stephen,

The IP address listed under the following heading in HI > Self Service > My IP Address should be correct right now:

Source address used for integrations into customer network with NO VPN

I'm assuming you do not have VPN.

However, if you were recently AHA transferred to the secondary instance, the IP address would have changed. Please contact support to know the IP address used for integrations into your network from the current secondary cluster. Posting that information in the community would not be appropriate.

Also, if you are willing, you can also ask for the entire range of ServiceNow IP addresses and whitelist all of them. Or at least use the list to cross reference any IP addresses you are seeing attempting to connect.

Thanks for the replies Matthew.

I am new to ServiceNow and HI in general, so any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!   Once I switched to the Legacy view in HI I was able to see what you were talking about. By default in the Service Portal -> Manage Instances it only shows the resolving IP address(es) of the instance. I have passed the information over to my LDAP/network team to update their whitelist with the IP ranges from the primary and secondary Source Address ...with NO VPN so hopefully we can configure our LDAP connectivity soon.

Great, hope you get up and running soon! By the way, I also found out that there is a known problem PRB718809 with the "Manage My Instances" dashboard. The IP information in that dashboard is incomplete and HI Admin is aware of the discrepancy. They are working on fixing it.
